And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Matthew Chapter 4 is an excellent example of the importance of the Rhema word. This is a great promise of God, that He is with us when we read His Word and He is able to make His words come alive in our hearts. With this understanding, Christians can count on the written words contained in the Bible to have deep and personal meaning to their lives, and it is the Holy Spirit who enlightens believers when reading a scripture with the goal of imparting wisdom, knowledge or understanding in order to have an immediate impact. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and, is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. In 2 Timothy 3:16, the Apostle Paul says that God inspired the writer of the Bible. In essence, the Rhema word is timely and extremely valuable in a Christian’s walk with God. A Rhema word is received while reading the Bible about something that applies to a current situation or need. In Greek, the Word Rhema means “an utterance” therefore, the Rhema word speaks to a believer. It is trusting God for inspiration, insights, and understanding of Word. It is God’s specific Word to you, at a specific time, for a purpose. The Greek rendering for “Word” in this verse is “Rhema” and it means the spoken Word of God for the “Now”. “And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God” (Ephesians 6:17). With the anointing of the Holy Spirit in you, you can change anything that is not consistent with the will, purpose and plan of God for you. You’re not to be a victim of the adverse circumstances and situations of life because you are anointed. You received this supernatural power and ability when you received the Holy Spirit a special ability to perform! This supernatural power for excellence is for you to effect changes in you now. It refers to miracle-working ability: the ability to make supernatural things happen. The word “power” derives from the Greek word “dunamis” which means power or ability to effect change. The choice of words in Scripture is very important because except you understand God’s exact communication, you can’t apply His words to your personal life. Through the Holy Spirit we have been infused with supernatural power to effect positive changes in our lives and in our circumstances. God has given us a life of glory and power in Christ Jesus. That power is the dynamic ability to cause change. “But ye shall receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you” (Acts 1:8). You were endowed with power the moment you received the Holy Spirit into your life.
